About

Meet Kirsty Wilcox

One of the busiest, warmest badminton communities on the south coast, built on a simple belief: the point of badminton is the joy of playing it.

Coaching that has a place for everyone

Kirsty coaches around 1,000 players every week, aged 4 to 85, right across Bournemouth and Dorset. From mini and junior classes to adult matchplay, women's and girls' sessions, disability-inclusive coaching, private tuition and county squads, the programme is built so there's a way in for absolutely everyone.

She's supported by a team of qualified coaches and county players who all share the same approach: enjoyment first, real coaching underneath. Every session is shaped around the people in the room, so complete beginners feel looked after and competitive players still get pushed.

The result is a community people genuinely look forward to turning up for - week in, week out, whatever their age or ability.

What makes it different

Not just somewhere to play. A place to belong, improve and enjoy the game, whoever you are.

Genuinely for everyone

Ages 4 to 85, all abilities, disability-inclusive, women & girls, LGBTQ+. Inclusion isn't a line on a page here - it's who turns up.

Coaching tailored to you

Kirsty reads the room and shapes each session around it, so you're always challenged at the right level, never left behind or out of your depth.

A real pathway to progress

From first rally to county circuits, there's always a next step, with a coach who knows exactly how to help you take it.

Badminton beyond Dorset

Kirsty's belief in the game travels well past the county line. Over the years she's helped start up badminton clubs in Burkina Faso and Sudan, sending racquets, shuttles and nets to get children playing.

Badminton is now officially recognised in Burkina Faso, which held its first-ever national tournament with six clubs taking part. The rackets the winning children were handed? Theirs to keep.

Kirsty, thank you for the racquets, shuttles and net, and thanks for all you do to make badminton such fun for the kids.

What players say

An excellent coach who tailors each lesson to exactly the areas I needed to work on. It's great fun, and I've made significant improvements.
